Hand-weaving as an OBSESSİON !!!

Some good seven years ago, I had shared this technique ( HERE & HERE ) developed by myself. I am back to it and have been enjoying varieties with colors. As to what i may do with the scraps remains a mistery. The weaving is a great therapy and distraction from the world's terrible situation these days. Though they are amorphic and in different sizes, I may felt them someday or alternatively use them as patchwork. They all are made with pure wool threads.

Viewing Weaving

I came up with this simple weaving loom ... Takes about two minutes max to prepare. All you need is an insulation board (tougher than styrofoam), long pins (i used T-pins) and a graph paper. Just follow the pictures. Great fun. Hope you enjoy :)

Weaving Completed :)

I am very proud to present the finished hand-woven fabric. I am more and more convinced that this is my invention :) I have not seen it any where ... This is weaving without any tools !!! This one is made with DMC tapestry wool and some pure knitting wool from my stash. The size is 27 x 8.5 cm ( 10.5" x 3.5" ).

My very first uncompleted version was with variegated cotton threads of DMC and Caron Collection.

Weaving Again and Grün ist die Hoffnung

Weaving again but this time with wool ... Pure virgin wool! I am also using the leftover yarns and felt joining them.

This wonderful pattern is the courtesy of Stephanie ... It is a sock pattern but I had decided to knit it into a small blanket. It is one of the earliest projects of my knitting craze that started last year and as I kept training myself into advancing (i.e. knitting socks), I unfortunately neglected my favourate piece. 60% of it is complete.

Weaving

I have not seen this done before ... It is weaving, infact re-weaving without a loom ... It is needle weaving. Just the thread, the needle and a thickly woven fabric, something like evenweave. My inspiration comes from darning.

A few pictures to give the idea ... I have cut a 15 cm square fabric. Pulled out one, only one warp or weft thread. Re-weaved the gap with variegated thread. In this case DMC Coton Perle and # 5 and Watercolours by Caron Collection ... Once the re-weaving is done, pulled out the next thread beside, re-weave ... This really is a stress-relief. Plus no need to follow a graph. Take it anywhere or do it while watching tv.  Shall be giving it a try with silk too :)
